MY REVIEW

Wow, wow, wow. This book is impactful, thought-provoking, and truly a beautiful story. I couldn't put it down, and ended up reading most of it in one day. As an equine enthusiast, I absolutely adored the rich history behind the story as well as the author's note which explained the true history behind her story. It left me wanting to read more historical documentation about these Arabians and the real people who did their best to save them during the horrors of WWII. The reality of war is crisply-told in this novel and overall, Miller does a phenomenal job presenting the truth in fiction here. Even portraying the muddled lines between those on opposite sides of the war, who have the same ideals and are simply caught on either side of the issue, is an important theme through the story as well, and it's deeply thought-provoking. While I did feel like some portions of the romance were stilted, it all smooths out in the end and is absolutely a thrilling story from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys historical fiction, especially WWII!
