Hey everyone! Today I'm thrilled to share a review of Morlave's School of Magic by Courtney Denelsbeck! But first, more info about the book...

BLURB
"Congratulations! You are one of the gifted few selected to receive the coveted Yortsed Academy scholarship."

Cornelius Morlave long since accepted his fate to follow in his parents' footsteps, spending his days working in their modest shop. But when a letter with the distinctive wax crest arrives, everything changes. Morlave has been offered a full scholarship to Yortsed Academy, a prestigious school for magic.

As Morlave arrives at Yortsed, he struggles to perform even the most basic spells, convinced that he doesn't belong. But when he uncovers dangerous secrets, Morlave realizes that his destiny may lie within the walls of Yortsed Academy.

Filled with elves, orcs, and mysterious magic, Morlave's School of Magic is perfect for fans of Harry Potter and A Deadly Education. This book will take you on a journey of friendship, danger, and first love through a medieval academy that will leave you wanting more.

MY REVIEW

Morlave's School of Magic will leave you wanting the rest of the series. ASAP. It has powerful themes of forgiveness over bitterness, what happens when we let our anger and emotions control us, and incredibly impactful themes of how the masters we serve will influence our entire lives. I loved Morlave's character arc as he begins to question and defy the status-quo of dark secrets dwelling in the halls of Yortsed, the unique secondary characters sprinkled throughout the story, and the faith elements that tied it all together so powerfully. If you're an avid fantasy reader, a parent looking for a Christian alternative to Harry Potter, or just someone who loves a good, fast-paced story...you'll want to pick up a copy immediately. (Also, when is the rest of the series coming out?!?!) This is probably going to make it onto my "favorites of 2025" list.

*I read an ARC in order to review; all opinions above are my own!**
